Either way, heading into Black Friday without a plan is like going to the Amazon without a guide -- you are probably going to end up getting eaten by a tiger. Or thrown to the floor by someone else pushing to get in your way.
Black Friday ads for the year are out already, so sort through all of them and try to decide on a few key places you want to go. That&rsquo;s always a good way to get started -- narrow down the field. You can&rsquo;t go everywhere at the same time, so make sure to plan accordingly.
<h2>&nbsp;2.&nbsp;The Day Of </h2>
Black Friday sometimes requires sacrifice -- and sometimes that sacrifice comes in the form of having to sneak out of Thanksgiving dinner a little early. Now that you&rsquo;ve narrowed down what stores -- or websites -- you want to go to, you are on the right track. Make sure you get there before opening time to account for any lines that have formed, and have your list sorted into what you want to look for first, what you can do without, and what you might pick up if you happen to see it in time.&nbsp;
Other important tips: Wear comfortable shoes. Drink a lot of water. Come hydrated. If you are staying outdoors for doors to open in cold weather, make sure you bundle up. No deal is worth getting sick over.

Wait, you thought Black Friday was done? Oh, sweet summer child. Once Friday has passed, things are just getting started. Black Friday is the beginning, not the end of the shopping season.&nbsp;

New year, new technology.
While the start of a new year may mean personal resolutions to many people, it&rsquo;s also a time to think about other resolutions: Like the resolution on your TV, for example.

While there are plenty of people that still haven&rsquo;t made the jump to 4K yet &ndash; and if you haven&rsquo;t, what are you waiting for?!? &ndash; TV companies are already setting their eyes on the next big thing: 8K.
Much like 4K was a resolution increase over 1080p, 8K is yet another resolution increase. What does it really mean for most people, though? Well, 4K content is just picking up steam, so it will be quite some time before 8K content starts getting released at a pace that makes upgrading worth it.

5G
2019 must be the year of numbers and letters, with both 8K and 5G getting a lot of attention. But much like 8K, 5G &ndash; the next step up in cellular communication -- &nbsp;isn&rsquo;t probably going to end up meaning a lot for most people this year.
We did start to see some 5G services roll out in 2018. 5G Verizon had some test markets for its 5G home service last year, but it looks like the company <a href="https://venturebeat.com/2019/01/29/verizon-5g-home-wont-expand-until-second-half-of-2019/">won&rsquo;t be further rolling out the service until later this year.</a> AT&amp;T has its own city list where it is already offering 5G &ndash; and it&rsquo;s adding more this year. But if you aren&rsquo;t in one of the test markets, what does 5G mean for you? Not much, at least for now.
And, for some of you on AT&amp;T thinking that you already have 5G because your phone has started displaying it, well, we have bad news for you: <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2019/1/7/18172355/att-fake-5g-logo-rolling-out-samsung-lg">It&rsquo;s fake.</a>

HDR
High dynamic range &ndash; or HDR &ndash; is a TV technology that lets you see more colors than ever before. While HDR isn&rsquo;t a &ldquo;new to 2019&rdquo; technology, it&rsquo;s one that is still getting adopted, and it&rsquo;s one that consumers can actually go out and experience now.
It&rsquo;s also one that is likely to get more and more popular as 2019 goes on. There are already places you can watch HDR content online &ndash; Netflix and Amazon Prime included &ndash; so check out those options or pick up some physical 4K Blu-rays if you want to experience your films and TV shows in more lifelike color than ever before.
