Black Friday Survival Guide 2019

by Waverly Wilde

1. Plan, Plan Plan

There’s an old saying: Those who go Black Friday shopping without a plan are destined to walk the ancient desert forever. Or something like that.

Either way, heading into Black Friday without a plan is like going to the Amazon without a guide -- you are probably going to end up getting eaten by a tiger. Or thrown to the floor by someone else pushing to get in your way.

Black Friday ads for the year are out already, so sort through all of them and try to decide on a few key places you want to go. That’s always a good way to get started -- narrow down the field. You can’t go everywhere at the same time, so make sure to plan accordingly.

 2. The Day Of

Black Friday sometimes requires sacrifice -- and sometimes that sacrifice comes in the form of having to sneak out of Thanksgiving dinner a little early. Now that you’ve narrowed down what stores -- or websites -- you want to go to, you are on the right track. Make sure you get there before opening time to account for any lines that have formed, and have your list sorted into what you want to look for first, what you can do without, and what you might pick up if you happen to see it in time.

Other important tips: Wear comfortable shoes. Drink a lot of water. Come hydrated. If you are staying outdoors for doors to open in cold weather, make sure you bundle up. No deal is worth getting sick over.

3. The Day After

Wait, you thought Black Friday was done? Oh, sweet summer child. Once Friday has passed, things are just getting started. Black Friday is the beginning, not the end of the shopping season.

Many websites will drop prices for Cyber Monday, and you can expect to see sales going up all weekend into the holiday season. Of course, we also have to mention that Saturday is also Shop Small Business Saturday. And speaking of...

 4. Shop Local!

We know we tell you about the great reasons why you should shop local all year round, but this is especially true when it comes to Black Friday -- local businesses like us are here with deals you won’t want to miss, even if the bigger guys tend to get the most attention.

If you want your hard-earned electronics money to go to hard-working businesses and stay in the local economy, there’s no better time to stop on by!

Black Friday only comes once a year, so there’s one other thing that is important to remember: Make sure to have fun. No matter what you are shopping for, you are just shopping. Have fun and try to get those deals, but don’t make the day miserable for yourself or anybody else who is out shopping with you.

And again -- if you are looking for the best deals on electronics locally, then stop on by! We’re here year-round, but you especially don’t want to miss stopping by during Black Friday!
