These Hi-Fi Audio Rooms Will Blow You Away

by Cathy Carr

Grab a seat. You are going to want to sit down for these Hi-Fi listening rooms.

In fact, you are probably going to want to sit down IN these, too. We’ve scoured the depths of the internet to bring you a collection of amazing audiophile-level listening rooms, sacred spaces of attunement where people can listen to music in near perfection, places where sound sits on a golden throne and rules above everything else in life.

So, whether you are looking for ideas to help you design your own listening room, or just love looking and not listening and harboring intense jealousy, these rooms show what fellow audiophiles are doing around the globe to get the best sound possible.

Portland’s Performance

Portland is just one of those cities you EXPECT to have dedicated listening rooms, due to their bohemian culture. It doesn’t come as a surprise to us, at least.

This room was built by Hammer & Hand, and they really outdid themselves on this one. H&H really pulled out all the stops to make sure that the room didn’t have any noise interference – including a minisplit heat pump and a cryogenically-treated electricity system. Wow.

The room can be tuned with the help of Tibetan bowls, and bass traps prevent the lower end of the frequencies from going everywhere. And of course, there’s plenty of storage for media, just waiting to be listened to.

Hearing in Hong Kong

For this room, we’re going to have to travel a bit: Across the sea to Hong Kong!

Don’t worry about having to carry all of your records with you for the trip. This public listening room is home to over 8,000 LPs, so you are bound to find something you want to listen to there already.

As for the room itself, your ears will be treated to JBL Pro Blue loudspeakers, Macintosh tube pre-amps, Klipschorn speakers, and two Technics SL-1200s. From the sounds of it, it’s more than worth the trip.

Of course, you don’t have to travel to get an amazing listening room – you could install your very own! We’d love to help make your listening room dreams come true, so give us a call today and we can chat about all the local options we can help you get started with.

Invisible Intensity

This CEDIA-award-winning room has a secret – you can’t see any of the speakers anywhere.

Unlike the other rooms we’ve taken a look at so far, this one doesn’t scream “LISTENING ROOM” from the rafters. Even the theater screen is initially hidden in the ceiling – unless you want to lower it to watch something while you listen. Hidden Wisdom Audio speakers provide the sound – sound so good that it actually made the owner of the house cry. Now that’s some serious sound, right there. Just make sure to bring some tissues.

Welcome to New York

Last but not least, our travels end in New York City, with not one, but a group of listening rooms put together by Sonos.

These seven SoHo rooms aren’t just audio masterpieces, they are visual lookers, as well. Stop by the rooms next time you are in New York City – your ears sure will be glad you did.

We’ve covered a lot of rooms and locations by now, but we’ve forgotten one important listening room – yours! Your room could one day grace a list just like this one. No matter what you are looking to do with your listening room, we’re here to help. Give us a call today and we’ll get you started on the best in current audio tech.
