How to Prep for Music Festivals

by Ronald Elias

It’s that time of the year – music festival season, baby!

While listening to music from the comfort of your home is one thing, nothing really beats the live music experience. And as more and more festivals are flourishing, your options for music festivals only keep growing.

Don’t let the crowds or the sun intimidate you, though! As your local music expert, we want you to enjoy music of all forms – so we put together some tips to help everyone make the most of festival season this year. Rock it!

Picking a Festival

The first step toward music festival fun and mayhem is picking what festival you want to go to. Much like climbing a mountain or doing a marathon, you want to be honest with yourself when tackling this step. If the thought of climbing Mt. Whimpy scares you, don’t schedule a trip for Mt. Everest next weekend.

The same rule of thumb applies to music festivals: They can range from single-day, small and relaxed affairs, to multiple-day-sweat-soaked camping excursions with you and a gazillion of your closest friends. That being said, the lineup is actually probably the most important part. Find a festival with your favorite band, or a lot of bands you like performing, and the rest of the details will work themselves out. Hopefully.

The Basics

You’ll need to check the rules of whichever festival you are going to – most have specific guidelines on what you can and can’t bring in with you. Water, a small bag, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and some snacks are all must-haves, especially if your festival is a longer affair.

Oh, and lest we forget – earplugs! Outdoor shows are almost always louder than indoor concerts, and if you want to keep your hearing, make sure to grab a pair or two to bring with you.

The Plan

If you really want to make the most of your day, going in with a plan is a good idea. You could be dealing with stages upon stages, with multiple bands all playing at the same time. At some festivals it can be near impossible to see everybody you want, so make sure to go in with priority performances, a plan, and a backup plan if you need to adjust.

You’ll also want to figure out driving, designated driving, parking, what time to arrive, and if you need to make any multi-day accommodations, such as hotels or campsites, as well.

The Day Of

Do you have your tickets? Your ID? Have you double checked entry times and have everything lined up? Perfect! The hard work is done, and it’s time to just sit back – or stand up – and relax and listen to your favorite musicians do what they do best!

Of course, after the festival ends you are going to want to keep hearing those tracks over and over again – and that’s where we come in. Give us a call today and we’ll be glad to help you find the speakers of your dreams, and help you bring that music festival feel straight to your living room year-round.
