Which TV type is right for me?

The type of TV you choose depends on several factors – The size of the space it will go, the screen size you desire, the amount of ambient light in the room... There is no one "correct" answer.

If the television is going to be placed in a room with a large amount of ambient light (sunlight), an LCD flat panel is often the best choice. The screen is non reflective, so with less glare, the image on the screen looks better. If you’re able to control that ambient light with shades or drapes, a Plasma Flat Panel would also be a good choice. If the television will be placed in a room where there is little ambient light, say like a basement, your options would expand to include rear projection sets or even front projectors.

The screen size also plays a roll. Right now, plasma sets start at 42”. If you’re looking for a flat panel TV, and you want a 32”, or space only allows for a 37”, you would have to go with an LCD. Further, if you want a big screen size, say 60”, LCD sets are not available in sizes that large, so you’d need to choose between a plasma or rear projection set.

Finding the right TV type is a process, one that should be discussed with a qualified sales associate who knows the right questions to ask. After some basic questions are answered, you should be able to narrow your choices down to a few specific sets and begin reviewing them for their specific features and how you think that set will look in your space.
